About the Game

Step into the role of a mischievous Tokoloshe, a creature from South African folklore.
Crawling in the shadows and unleashing chaos.


Your goal is to navigate the environment and interact with objects — bang on doors, break windows, tear clothing, and activate alarm cars — anything that makes noise and scares the people around you.


Each scare increases your Fear Meter. The higher it climbs, the closer you are to spreading panic. But be careful: your fear slowly fades if you don’t keep the tension alive.

When your Fear Meter reaches its peak, the way forward unlocks, and you can advance to the next area.  Run in the dark, strike and terrify your way to victory!

I had a fun time working on this game, just wish I had more time (and maybe a day off on Monday). I handled the development, design, and art! All the visuals were created in Aseprite, where I designed the pixel art character, environments, and user interface.

PS: Pixel animation is harder to make than I thought! I really tried to make the art side pop and capture a fun, spooky vibe, but the gameplay suffered a little.

Still, I hope you enjoy playing this little game as much as I enjoyed making it!

Absolutely love this interpretation of the theme! Being an SA based game jam this just feels so fitting. Love the atmosphere curated through the music and visuals, and being a menace to society always feels fun! Great job!

I could embody my INNER SKABENGA and break people's windows!!! Very cool game to speedrun after 2 or 3 attempts, and I enjoyed all the various lil antics my fiendish Tokoloshe gremlin could get up to! 

Really enjoyed the mood and atmosphere in your game! The art, music, and SFX really make you feel like you're up to something spooky! I enjoyed that the goal was to continually break and mess with things, and it seems the game requires you to interact with the same things repeatedly, so the game becomes about deciding which path you'll take to fill up the meter. I did find that I could leave without enough Fear on my first attempt though! 

I think this game would benefit from a bit more speed, and perhaps a little less of a floaty jump. I would want the platforming to feel sharp and snappy to be able to try get from place to place as quick as possible - the decreasing Fear makes me want to try speed-run it and get out as quick as possible.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I really appreciate your thoughts on the speed and jump feel. I’ll tweak those to make the platforming feel more snappy. I’ve focused a lot on the art and atmosphere, but I agree that the mechanics need refinement. Thanks for playing the game!
